Centrica Business Solutions was awarded this solar contract after demonstrating a combination of experience, expertise, and added value. Centrica Business Solutions was able to directly purchase the Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) and provided industry-leading production guarantees and workmanship warranties, both of which essentially guaranteed economic return.
The Centrica Business Solutions team designed and installed a solution featuring more than 4,000 Jinko 315 watt solar panels and 49 SolarEdge inverters on the roof of the company's New Jersey headquarters and production facility.
The solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which provides 72% of the building’s power requirements and saves $149,000 per year in energy costs.
When New Jersey SRECs are taken into account, the solar installation is projected to achieve average annual savings of an incredible 133% – in effect turning what was previously an operating expense into extra revenue.
In addition to the substantial cost savings, the solar installation saves 1,142 metric tons of CO2 annually; the equivalent of 2,736,000 car miles per year, or enough energy to power 169 homes for a year.
